Those those 3 are.qbw,.qbb, &.qbm files – they are QuickBooks Working Files, QuickBooks Backup Files, & QuickBooks Portable Company file respectively. There are a host of other file extensions or file types that QuickBooks uses that you’ll see from time to time, here is a list of those extensions if you ever find yourself curious about.

I had this issue before but upgrading from windows 7 to windows 10. Windows 10 as it upgrades it checks to make sure the files are compatible. If it finds a non compatible extension it errors out, because it doesn't want you to lose the data. Its annoying but its a fail safe that you can thank Microsoft for.
Here is an exerp from Quickbooks:

.nd 'net data' is a place marker file, that helps QB manage the actual data file. It is like bookmarks for the internal functions of the program. This is a utility file, one of many, that gets created when the data file is opened in a folder. It might be that it accidentally got copied into the Dropbox folder. It shouldn't be used now. When you restore a Backup file, your computer will need QB to create a new .nd file at that time.
Data files are filetype (extension) of .QBB, .QBW, .QBM, .QBA, .QBY, .QBX.
Utility files inclulde .nd, .tlg, etc.
I hope this gives some insight and helps! ![]() Comments are closed.
